Beata
Bedkowska-Huang is currently one of the most important figures on the
Polish guitar scene. She began studing the guitar under the
tutoring of Prof. Edmund Jurkowski at the Musical College in Katowice,
from which she graduated with honors in 1990 under tutor Wanda Palacz.
Als DAAD-scholarship holder she studied in Freiburg, Germany with Sonja
Prunnbauer. With highest marks and distinctions she completed in 1994
her postgraduate studies and than in 1996 the final “Concertstage”
diploma, reserved only for a strictly limited circle of distinguished,
promising students at this academy.
She developed her skills at master classes conductet by such
outstanding guitarist as David Russell, Wolfgang Lendle, Thomas
Müller-Pering and David Starobin. Beata Bedkowska-Huang has been
awarded many top prizes in international competitions like the
International Guitar Competition in Tychy (Poland); the Musical
Competition in Freiburg (Germany); the Guitar Competition in Munich
(Germany) (Hochschulewettbewerb); the International Guitar
Competition “Francisco Tárrega” in Benicasim (Spain); the
international Guitar Competition Tredrez-Locquemeau (France); the
International Guitar Competition in Gargnano (Italien). She is a
frequent teacher of master-classes and regularly performs as a solist
in Europe and North America.
